On May 24th, W Hoboken will serve as the venue for the very first NYM trunk show featuring a variety of artisans and vendors including, House of Minerva (recently featured at Sundance, the Oscar gift bags and the MTV Movie Awards), Bag the Habit (Downtown Jersey City success story), the CraftMen (Brooklyn leather goods darlings), Kayt Hester (of recent Victorinox Swiss Army fame), The Silver Sculptor and Cecile Raley Designs (internationally renowned jewelers) Kana Kids (kids’ wear designer) and many, many more.

The trunk show will take place inside the Living Room of the W Hoboken and will spill onto the patio facing the beautiful waterfront.

There will be $3 drink and food specials. Enjoy Bliss mini-treatments, giveaways and make sure to check in at the event for a chance to win a free night stay at W Hoboken and a VIP table at The Chandelier Room!

6.03.2012 – Bike JC Ward Tour CrAfter Party

Come Celebrate another year with Bike JC at the 3rd Annual Jersey City Ward Tour; a sixteen mile group bike ride through ALL six wards of Jersey City. The tour starts (& finishes) at Exchange Place, 11am. Registration is required and is FREE online at bikejc.org, with a suggested donation of $5.

The festival at Tour’s END (i.e. the CrAFTER Party) will feature cool wares by Not Yo Mama’s vendors, food, beer, live music and a non-profit showcase from 1pm-5pm. Riders & non-riders alike are invited to this party at Exchange Place from 1-5pm. Whaaat? That’s right! For those that aren’t inclined to hop up onto two-wheelers, you don’t have to ride your bike to join in the CrAFTER Party;
that’s how these kids roll, yo’.

12pm - Katja Larssen

Katja has been singing at local Jersey City events for the past 2 years. She studies voice and guitar at Metropolis Music on Newark Avenue with Alex Brumel (of Alex & Janel). In the past year, she has sung at the summer series ‘Groove on Grove’, ‘Ladies That Rock’ and ‘The 4th Street Arts & Music Festival.’ Katja also just finished recording back up vocals for a Children’s Christmas album due out this holiday season and studies acting and dance as well. She will turn 11 this summer and currently attends 5th grade.

2pm - Manouche Bag:

Formed in 2009 in Jersey City, Manouche Bag is an intimate window into the heart of France, performing Gypsy Jazz and French songs.

4pm - Ray Bally Band

Raymond Bally Band features Dennis Young on marimba and guitar; Andrew Platt on drums. RB on vocals and guitar. Raymond Bally has a new album, Faker which will be available at the Fair along with a hand silk screened poster designed by the artist, Andrew Wilkinson. Raymond Bally writes and sings songs of real love, fake love and all points in between. His music is available at his shows, and all digital sites including Itunes, Amazon, etc.

Not Yo Mama’s Fair Organizers, LLC (NYM) is an art fair event planning company which coordinates art and craft fairs, based out of Jersey City, NJ. NYM was started in 2009 with the idea of bringing high end crafting into the mainstream and helping develop the business of thousands of artisan crafters. We partner with local community and art organizations to set up fairs and ultimately donate a portion of the proceeds to the partnering organization. Not Yo Mama’s Fair vendors create a wide range of high-end handmade goods; jewelry, handcrafted leather, stationery, childrens’ clothing, original artwork, home goods as well as furniture. Currently run by artists Megan Gülick and Michelle Mumoli, NYM has 17 dates of events scheduled from April through December of 2012, with as far a reach as Newark and Asbury Park.

Not Yo Mama’s has teamed up with a number of Jersey City parks to bring to you high quality vendors in the beautiful surroundings of the city’s best neighborhood parks. Parks included in the series will be Riverview Park in Jersey City Heights, Van Vorst Park as well as the Hamilton Park BBQ in Downtown Jersey City. Part I of the Parks & Crafts series will take place in Van Vorst Park with vendors such as House of Minerva (recently featured at Sundance, the Oscar gift bags and the MTV Movie Awards), Buttercup Cosmetics (recently featured in About.com) accessories by Traash (made from 100% recycled plastic bags) and ButtonThis!, desserts by All Kinds of Whoopie, delicious lemonade by Lizzmonade, local food from the farmers market, Taqueria Chilango and much more!

FREE concert featuring musical acts Katja Laarsen, Raymond Bally, Manouche Bag & emcee’ing by DJ HellzYeah. The Liberty Humane Society will be on hand with the North Shore Animal League Adoption Van. M Avery Studios will be helping create D-I-Y doggie bandanas.

For the kids there will be a Yo’ Mama’s Day Card Creation Station, run by Kupiart and fantastic face painting by local artist Christi Harrington!

Our Fools Fair at LITM was a blast, thanks to everyone who joined in the fun! We were able to raise some funds for Liberty Humane Society, a group that tirelessy takes care of SO many animals in need. We at NYM Headquarters love our own animals and find inspiration for our personal creative spirits through a variety of rug rats, chinchillas, puppies, kittens, lady bugs (etc). This is one of many reasons we wanted to give back to this organization.

May 12th, Liberty Humane Society and the North Shore Animal Adoption Van will be joining us in Van Vorst Park! Looking for your own inspirational “critter”??? Well, here’s your chance to meet some new friends.

(Aside from our typical, stellar line up of artists & crafters), we’ll be making cards for mom, painting faces, listening to great music (Manouche Bag @ 2pm & DJ Hellz Yeah as our charismatic MC!)

This event is FREE to the public… and coincides with the Farmers’ Market til 2pm.
So, come on out to support your local parks AND local businesses!

Fool’s Fair at LITM

If you haven’t had the chance to get a glimpse of the vendors and all we’ll have in store, well…. what are you waiting for?!?

This Sunday April 1st, from 11am-5pm, we’ll be setting up shop with 29 fabulous, one-of-a-kind artisans at LITM (140 Newark Ave in downtown Jersey City). We’ll be raffling off prizes from JC Tattoo, the Underground Supper Club, Damaged Wear, Great Bowls Afire, The Intuitive Goddess, Green Shave, Morlees Clothing, LITM & All Kinds of Whoopie. If you donate $5 at the door, you’ll get two free raffle tickets AND you’ll be helping support Liberty Humane Society. A portion of the raffle sales and suggested door donation will go to LHS.
Real Deal Women and Yelp.com will be there to get the inside scoop and pass out some free schwag. Come early, get candy!
Alsooo, LITM will have some awesome specials on local brews and hand-crafted spring/brunch cocktails during the event
